We will be joining the Community Development Roundtable on Thursday, March 17 starting at 8:30am to discuss the 6th Cycle of the Housing Element and to hold an open conversation regarding the housing challenges and opportunities in Milpitas from the perspective of planning, development, and construction professionals.
The Housing Element is a key part of the City’s General Plan that sets the long-term vision and implementation plan for housing in our city. Its purpose is to facilitate the production of a variety of housing types, at different income levels, to accommodate all households and family types. Cities are required by state law to update their Housing Element every eight years, and the City of Milpitas is now updating its Housing Element to plan for the City’s projected housing needs during the next eight years between 2023 and 2031.
This conversation will directly inform our process and ensure that we are addressing the most pressing housing issues identified by stakeholders and community members. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to the Milpitas Housing Element team at [email protected]
